About Me

Hi! My name is Elaina Eichorn and I'm from Austin, Texas. I attend Auburn University and work as a student photographer for Auburn Athletics, AU Involve, and Auburn University Programs Council.

My Story

I picked up my first DSLR camera on a trip to visit my Aunt Ginger in Ireland back in 2014. I don't know if it was the scenery or the camera, but I fell in love with it. After that, I fell into photography when I stopped dancing due to my mental health. Photography was my way to get back into the world, and it has shaped me into who I am right now.

In 2016, I focused on photographing my older sister, Natalie, dance in her high school's dance team. High action in a low lighting gym... what a way to start learning camera settings. I loved the feeling of capturing a fast moment. It went by in a flash but I had it on my SD card forever. That lead to me being a Team Photographer and Head Manager for my high school's dance team.

Throughout high school, I picked up portrait photography as well as photographing all types of sports. I joined yearbook my senior year and really got into sports. I knew I wanted to pursue that in college.

Then comes Auburn. In August 2019, I interviewed for The Glomerata, Auburn's yearbook. I was the only freshman on the team, so it was a perfect place to learn from others. I began covering all types of events for my university, focusing on growing my photography skills.

At the very beginning of 2020, I was asked to join the Auburn Athletics photo team to train under a new staff hire. I easily accepted and eagerly began shooting for Auburn Tigers! A dream come true. Unfortunately, COVID-19 hit right around that time. I took a break from shooting, made a TikTok account, and started editing remotely for Athletic's photographers in Fall 2020.

Fast forward to Spring 2023. Here I am writing this story in hopes that someone else can get inspired to pick a camera themselves. I've now been shooting for the Auburn Tigers "normally" for almost 2 years now as a Student Photographer. In this time I was able to photograph every sport Auburn offers, travel with gymnastics for their national championship, partake in the NCAA Photo Men's Final Four workshop, and meet a lot of amazing people. I graduate in May, and who knows where the lens will take me next.

One Last Thing

Photography is my favorite thing in the world. I've had this business for 7 years now. I strive to capture photos with emotion; photographs that mean something to you and the world. Whether it's freezing a monumental sports game, your relationship with your friends and family, or who you are as a person, I can capture it!

Thank you for taking a minute to read about what I love to do, and I hope to work with you in the future! You can check out my work in my portfolio and learn more information about my photo sessions here.
